Autism can now be detected even at the six-month children

In the last 25 years there has been an increase in the number of children who have autism is diagnosed, the disease, whose causes are still unclear. A new method for the recognition of this disease allows to detect it much earlier, respectively, before you can start treatment.

The sooner the disease is discovered, the more you can alleviate the condition of these children with the help of medicines and special psychological methods.

However, until now, to determine the child’s autism was at best after the age of two years is the formulation of the diagnosis requires communication with the child and the appropriate level of its development.

British scientists from the University of London (University of London) created a method by which with high probability can predict the risk of autism in children aged 6-10 months by studying brain wave activity.

The authors observed 54 children who were born in families with a high risk of birth of such children, and 50 children who in the past generations there was not a single birth of a child with autism. All the children were aged 6 to 10 months.
The kids were shown pictures of faces of adults, while taking the indicators of activity of the brain. Most children with a high risk of developing the disease image caused unusual brain waves, which differed significantly from those indicators that have been observed in children with low risk of autism.

Subsequently, at the age of 3 years to 17 children during the experiment, it was observed unusual brain activity, was diagnosed with autism. In the control group at low risk in children from the studies in infancy such phenomena were not observed, such a diagnosis was not put to any child.
